iHEARTRADIO Classic Rock WAIO (RADIO 95.1)/ROCHESTER afternoon team KIMBERLY RAY and BARRY BECK are in the news again, this time getting sued for slander by the former owner of a local market whose suit claims they called him a drug dealer on the air. The suit also names iHEARTMEDIA as a co-defendant.
The ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE reports that MICHAEL AMALFI SR. is alleging that KIMBERLY & BECK, who were fired last year by crosstown ENTERCOM Rock WBZA (98.9 THE BUZZ) for comments about transgender people and were also sued by a local veterinarian over comments they made about her at that station, said on a MAY show that he sold pot at his family's AMALFI'S MEAT MARKET.
While AMALFI's son MICHAEL AMALFI JR. was arrested in 2014 on federal charges involving the sale of over 200 pounds of marijuana, the senior AMALFI was not involved and the son never ran the meat market; KIMBERLY & BECK discussed the suit on the air and when a called asked if the accused MICHAEL AMALFI used to own the market, the hosts allegedly said yes.
