CUMULUS MEDIA Urban AC WNBM (103.9)/NEW YORK was the official radio station sponsor of the 46th Annual AFRICAN AMERICAN DAY PARADE held this WEEKEND in HARLEM.
The purpose of the parade is to honor the African American business community. Festivities kicked off with the LINCOLN UNIVERSITY Marching Band from OXFORD, PA. More than 200 organizations and bands participated in this years parade.
Assemblyman KEITH WRIGHT held his annual AFRICAN AMERICAN DAY PARADE Breakfast.
REACH MEDIA’s TOM JOYNER of THE TOM JOYNER MORNING SHOW was one of the Grand Marshals. Other Grand Marshals included WHEELCHAIR CHARITIES's HENRY (HANK) CARTER, MELBA'S RESTAURANT Owner MELBA WILSON, HARLEM NEWS GROUP Publisher PAT STEVENSON, UNITY FUNERAL CHAPELS Pres./CEO CLIFFORD JAMES, and APEX BUILDING GROUP Pres./COO ROBERT HORSFORD.
Other people of note taking part in this years event; NEW YORK State Assembles first African American to be elected Speaker CARL E. HEASTIE, long civil rights activist Ms. HAZEL DUKES, and two-time WORLD AMATEUR GOLF Champion & reigning SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA JUNIOR PGA TOUR Champion, 11 year-old AMARI AVERY.
