Sony Music Entertainment Names Industry Vet Lee Stimmel To Original Content Post

Industry veteran LEE STIMMEL has been named Head of Original Content for SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, based in NEW YORK and reporting to Global Digtal Business Pres. DENNIS KOOKER.
STIMMEL will develop original content initiatives for SONY MUSIC, working closely with the company’s U.S. labels and business units around the world to generate creative concepts. He also will work with global brands, agencies and platforms to establish strategic partnerships around video and music-related original programming from SME.
Commenting on the appointment, KOOKER said: “We are excited to add LEE to the team and welcome him back to the SONY MUSIC family. He is an experienced music executive who understands how to create content and drive successful connections between artists and brands. He also has the leadership skills to help us maximize our opportunities in a growing global market for video content placing high demand on music-centric programming.”

STIMMEL was most recently Head of Business Development for SAMSUNG NORTH AMERICA, leading the company’s content acquisition initiatives across all product lines. Prior to that, he spent over 10 years with SONY MUSIC, most recently as Head of COLUMBIA RECORDS' Creative Agency where, among other accomplishments, he played a key role in the development of a pair of original content series, “Culinary Beats” a web series with CITIBANK carried on YAHOLL, and “The MIKE TYSON Mysteries,” an animated television show airing on CARTOON NETWORK. Before joining COLUMBIA, he was EVP at EPIC RECORDS. He began his career as a marketing executive for ATLANTIC RECORDS.
