KANZA SOCIETY/HIGH PLAINS PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial KGUY/GUYMON, OK was taken off the air when tower repair crews knocked down the station's tower without notice, the regional public radio network reports.
The network says that a crew tried to climb the tower for repairs but could not, and tower owner AMERICAN TOWER elected to have the tower taken down immediately; the result was not only that the tower came down but that "a significant amount of damage occurred" to HPPR'a equipment.
While HPPR looks for a new antenna and tower site, the station will be off the air, with programming available online, and HPPR recommending that listeners try the rimshot signal of KTOT/SPEARMAN, TX or KTXP/BUSHLAND-AMARILLO, TX, which is normally blocked by first-adjacent KGUY.
