Columbia Pres. Ashley Newton Heading To Capitol Music Group

ALL ACCESS has learned that COLUMBIA RECORDS Pres. ASHLEY NEWTON will be leaving SONY MUSIC for CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP, where he will take on the role of CMG Pres. and EVP/Creative-Special Projects for UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP.

NEWTON was appointed Pres. of COLUMBIA in 2010, and had previously held senior A&R positions at RCA RECORDS and VIRGIN RECORDS UK, with his career starting at ISLAND RECORDS in the U.K. under CHRIS BLACKWELL.

A spokesperson for CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP declined comment for this story.
