It's Official: Frankie Robinson And Tone Kapone Begin At WGCI/Chicago

ALL ACCESS tipped you off in MAY (NET NEWS 5/20) that FRANKIE ROBINSON and TONE KAPONE were headed for iHEARTMEDIA Urban WGCI (107.5)/CHICAGO.  They officially started TODAY.

FRANKIE ROBINSON will host midday and TONE KAPONE will hold down PM drive.  Both were previously at crosstown rival CRAWFORD BROADCASTING Urban WPWX (POWER 92) and could not begin until non-compete clauses had been fulfilled.

Market Manager MATT SCARANO said, “I’m thrilled we were able to recruit two of the hottest on-air personalities in Hip-Hop.  They live and breathe the lifestyle and thanks to their vast community ties, FRANKIE and TONE are plugged into what's happening in CHICAGO.  They are committed to being #1 and I have no doubt they'll get the job done.”

ROBINSON commented, "My life has truly come full circle.  With GOD's help, I am about to make history.  Not just for me, but the entire city of CHICAGO, my city."

She began her career at WGCI more than ten years ago as traffic reporter before hosting evenings on the station.

KAPONE, added, “This is something that has been a long time in the making and words cannot explain my excitement to be a part of the 107.5 WGCI-FM team."

He is a CHICAGO native and also currently serves as a daily correspondent on DISH NATION.  His resume also includes co-starring in the movie, OF BOYS AND MEN and the hit television show, THE PARKERS.
