LADY ANTEBELLUM's CHARLES KELLEY revealed YESTERDAY (9/30) plans to release a solo album in 2016. KELLEY debuted some cuts from the future album to an industry-only audience last night. Very recently the group announced that at the end of their “WHEELS UP TOUR,” they were taking a hiatus before heading back into the studio (NET NEWS 8/28).
The exact album release date is still unknown, but LADY A's label, CAPITOL NASHVILLE, will also issue KELLEY's solo project. His performance revealed the diversity of this project and a departure from his traditional, LADY ANTEBELLUM sound.
KELLEY covered TOM PETTY's "Southern Accents" and told the audience that the recorded track will feature harmonies by STEVIE NICKS. The album also will feature a song, co-written by renowned songwriter CHRIS STAPLETON, which really illustrates the range of KELLEY's abilities as an artist. Despite the long hiatus and KELLEY's new project and new sound, he insisted that the trio was very much still together.
