Veteran syndication executive and talk radio programmer JIM WATKINS has announced his retirement as National Affiliate and Marketing Director at TALK RADIO NETWORK. WATKINS had been with TRN for most of the last 16 years; he has also served as Director of Affiliate Relations and Marketing with SUN BROADCAST GROUP, News-Talk PD for CLEAR CHANNEL in SANTA BARBARA, and Production Director for PETERS PRODUCTIONS.
WATKINS said, “It has been an honor for me to be a part of what can only be described as a thrilling experience. Having worked with such talk radio giants as MICHAEL SAVAGE, LAURA INGRAHAM, JERRY DOYLE, PHIL HENDRIE, MANCOW MULLER, RUSTY HUMPHRIES, MONICA CROWLEY, BARRY FARBER, PHIL BOYCE, MARK MASTERS, and the excellent news anchors of AMERICA’S RADIO NETWORK, to name a few, is humbling.
“We made an indelible mark on the industry; many of these great talents continue to shine even now in broadcasting. Not many people have had the fortune to work with such great radio talent. I am one of the lucky ones. I thank MARK MASTERS for the opportunity."
“It is also an honor to have gotten to know so many great Program Directors and General Managers over the 16 year span I served in affiliate relations for TRN.
“For now, it’s time to focus on special projects, including hosting a new morning show in TAMPA, FLORIDA on GENESIS-owned AM 820, WWBA (not far from where I reside in SOUTH FLORIDA), and other projects I hope to announce real soon.”
