OCTOBER is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH and CUMULUS Triple A KFOG/SAN FRANCISCO is promoting its #BoobProject. To get the word out, the station has produced an ad that will run from TODAY (10/6) through the end of OCTOBER inside BART trains in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. KFOG/KSAN OM/PD JIM RICHARDS came up with the concept for the ad.
Last THURSDAY (10/1) the station released a breast cancer benefit song and video featuring rock artists including, HOZIER, FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, VANCE JOY, MICHAEL FRANTI, SPANDAU BALLET, MATT NATHANSON, ELLE KING, GRACE POTTER, ZZ WARD, GRAHAM NASH and members of the GRATEFUL DEAD. The song, "Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob", was written by eight-year-old ARCHER NELSON, son of KFOG morning co-host MIKE "NO NAME" NELSON, as a way of dealing with his mom CHRISTI's breast cancer diagnosis.
NELSON, is currently on a cross-country motorcycle tour dubbed the "1 in 8 Tour"-- from SAN FRANCISCO to NEW YORK -- in honor and support of the 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lives. Nelson's stops will include various medical centers that diagnose and treat breast cancer. NELSON has also brought his bright pink HARLEY to a handful of HARLEY-DAVIDSON dealerships. The ride continues through this week, with more stops planned along the way.
All funds generated from the sale of the song and donations to KFOG’s #BoobProject will go to the BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION, a charity that funds breast cancer research all over the world.
