With House Republicans in disarray trying to come up with a suitable candidate for Speaker of the House to replace the retiring JOHN BOEHNER, a caller's suggestion has SALEM RADIO NETWORK host DENNIS PRAGER thinking that perhaps he could be the chosen one.
On FRIDAY's show (10/9), "GRETCHEN in DENVER" called and suggested that PRAGER himself offer himself up as the new Speaker, bringing "moral clarity" and "civil discourse" to the House. PRAGER responded, "I am open to it. Actually I am open to it as of the last 48 hours when I learned you don’t have to be a sitting member of Congress to be the Speaker of the House.”
He added that "I think that I would be an articulate spokesman for the values of the REPUBLICAN PARTY. The press would have a very hard time with me because they have a very hard time with intelligent conservatives. A very hard time. They’re not generally deep, the folks on the Left. They think that they’re brighter, and then if they meet a bring conservative it’s very disorienting to them. And the other factors would that I really would be able to bring the factions of the Republican Party together in many instances. I’m not working toward this, but since you asked asked ... it’s perfect. Because you don’t have to run for it. You could just be appointed.”
SALEM VP/News and Talk Programming TOM TRADUP said, "If he is selected, I would expect DENNIS PRAGER to still honor his SRN contract, so he would make history by becoming the first U.S. House Speaker with his own three-hour daily talk show."
