In an effort to help raise awareness of the literacy crisis, CBS RADIO HOUSTON has partnered with the POINTS OF LIGHT FOUNDATION and the BARBARA BUSH LITERACY INITIATIVE to help break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most children reading with an adult in 24 hours on MONDAY, OCTOBER 19th.
Each of the five CBS RADIO HOUSTON stations will visit a school, determined by the FOUNDATION: Spanish Pop KLOL-F(MEGA 101.1) will be at BELL ELEMENTARY at 8a (CT), Country KILT-F(100.3 THE BULL) will be at LOWERY ELEMENTARY at 7a (CT), Hot AC KHMX-F (MIX 96.5) will be at WILCHESTER ELEMENTARY at 9a (CT), Top 40 KKHH-F (HOT 95.7) will be at LEXINGTON CREEK ELEMENTARY at 8a (CT) and Sports/Talk KILT-A (SPORTS 610) will be at KOLTER ELEMENTARY at 8a (CT).
Over the last two weeks, CBS RADIO HOUSTON personalities asked their listeners to volunteer and help support this campaign. There are thousands of volunteers still needed. Anyone in the community is welcome to go to BushHoustonLiteracy.org and click the “volunteer” button for READ ACROSS THE GLOBE.
“We believe in putting the power of our stations and employees to work for great causes, and providing community service not only on the air, but by our lending our time as well,” said CBS RADIO HOUSTON SVP/Market Manager SARAH FRAZIER. “We’re thrilled to be partners with Dr. JULIE BAKER-FINCK (President of the BARBARA BUSH HOUSTON LITERACY FOUNDATION) and the BARBARA BUSH LITERACY INITIATIVE on this mission; there’s nothing more important in our community than our kids."
