KRZQ/Reno's 'Bubba's Bike For Badges' Raises Money For Family Of Fallen Police Officer

SHAMROCK COMMUNICATIONS Alternative KRZQ/RENO, NV had a great success with its BUBBA'S BIKE FOR BADGES fund-raiser last SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10th.

Legendary on-air personality BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE and his sidekick 25 CENT traveled to RENO to lead BIKES FOR BADGES to raise money for the family of fallen officer Deputy CARL HOWELL. More than 200 people and 175 motorcycles participated, raising about $8,000 with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the family.

HOWELL was shot and killed while responding to a domestic battery call in east CARSON CITY last AUGUST 15th.

The first deputies to arrive on scene located an injured woman in front of the home. As other deputies checked on the woman's injuries, Deputy HOWELL approached the home to speak to the male subject. The subject ambushed him at the front door, mortally wounding him. Despite the wound, HOWELL was able to return fire and killed the subject.

Deputy HOWELL was a U.S. MARINE CORPS veteran and had served with the CARSON CITY SHERIFF'S OFFICE for nine years. He is survived by his wife, four children, and two stepchildren.
