Up to 350 employees are facing layoffs at ESPN as soon as TODAY (10/21), according to BLOOMBERG and THE BIG LEAD.
The network has been facing cuts after parent THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY reported that earnings for the company's cable networks division were not meeting its forecasts. THE BIG LEAD reported that the network was ordered to cut $100 million from its 2016 budget and $250 million from its 2017 budget. ESPN spokespersons declined comment on the reports.
ESPN operates the ESPN AUDIO division, including ESPN RADIO, ESPN DEPORTES RADIO, and the ESPN and GRANTLAND podcast networks.
