ACM Names Humanitarian Award Winner

The ACM (ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC) has announced the winner of the 2006 HOMETOWN HERO CONTEST. GLENN WOOTEN, 46, of ASHBURN, VA was selected. The award honors an individual committed to volunteerism and improving his or her local community. Country fans voted online from MAY 8th-JUNE 2
for their choice of HOMETOWN HERO.WOOTEN, was nominated by his wife, BARBARA, for his dedication to helping residents of the U.S. Gulf Coast following the devastation caused by hurricanes KATRINA, RITA and WILMA. He helped start a program called CONVOY OF PASSION KATRINA RELIEF, by collecting and delivering donations of necessary building, personal, home, food and office supplies to Gulf Coast residents.
As the Hometown Hero, WOOTEN will attend and participate in the KaBOOM! playground build to honor country music artist VINCE GILL, the 2006 ACM/HOME DEPOT HUMANITARIAN Award winner, on Sept. 25, 2006, at the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA in NEW ORLEANS. WOOTEN, also wins a trip to the 42nd ACM AWARDS in 2007.
