Any possible auction or selloff of TRIBUNE CO. or its assets will be handled by the longtime banker of the company, MERRILL LYNCH, according to a report in the NEW YORK POST.
TRIBUNE agreed last week to look into selling off more assets or selling the entire company in a leveraged buyout after reaching a deal to unwind two partnerships with the CHANDLER family. The company recently sold off TV stations in ATLANTA and BOSTON but has been under pressure to bring its stock price up. TRIBUNE owns one remaining radio property, Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO.
