Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Honors New Inductees

Twenty-one radio professionals were inducted into the GEORGIA RADIO HALL OF FAME in a ceremony at the EARL SMITH STRAND THEATRE in MARIETTA, GA last SATURDAY night (OCTOBER 24th).
This year’s career achievement inductees (and their most recent radio affiliation) are: DEANE CLARK, WKLS/ATLANTA; GEORGE VAN VOORHIS, aka GEORGE MASON DIXON, WDUN/GAINESVILLE; GREG MCCLURE, WSB/ATLANTA; BOB NOBLE, WSB/ATLANTA; MARY CATHERINE SNEED, RADIO ONE/ATLANTA; CHRISTIE TANNER, WSB/ATLANTA; ALLEN TIBBETTS, WGMG (MAGIC 102.1)/ATHENS; LARRY TINSLEY, V-103/ATLANTA.
Legacy inductees were JOHNNY BROWN, WNEA/NEWNAN; WAYNE BROWN, STREETZ 94.5 FM/ATLANTA; DON CARLE, WPCH/ATLANTA; HUGH CHRISTIAN, WRFC/ATHENS; JAY CLARK, WVLD and WAAC/VALDOSTA; CRAIG CRISSMAN, WRNG and WGST/ATLANTA; MIKE FAHERTY, WSB/COX RADIO/ATLANTA; CHRIS MORGAN, WQXI/ATLANTA; PAUL REEHLING, WFPM/FORT VALLEY; BEN TUCKER, WSOK and WLVH/SAVANNAH.
The ELMO ELLIS SPIRIT AWARD was presented to PETER MAER, who worked at WSB, WGST Radio and CBS NEWS as WHITE HOUSE Correspondent. A new category, the HORIZON AWARD, was awarded to JOSHLYN DENNIS, WGOV/VALDOSTA and MIKE KELLY, WKCN and WBOJ/COLUMBUS. The Award is given to young GEORGIA radio professionals, between the ages of 21-30, who have been employed at a GEORGIA radio station for 12 consecutive months, and have contributed to the station’s success and commitment to community service.
