JACOBS MEDIA "Digital Dot Connector" and ALL ACCESS columnist SETH RESLER analyzes the announcement that GOOGLE is adding podcasts to its GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC service and what that might mean for the growth of podcasting in a post at the JACOBLOG website.
RESLER notes that podcasting is in a "watershed moment" with the success of shows like "SERIAL," high-profile radio managers like NPR's ERIC NUZUM and SAGA's STEVE GOLDSTEIN leaving to move into podcasting, SCRIPPS and HUBBARD investing in podcast sales networks, and ALL ACCESS launching its podcast section. But he notes that while iOS devices have a native podcast player app, ANDROID devices do not, making GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC's move to have podcasters upload their shows for the eventual launch of podcasts in its app a potentially major moment in the growth of the medium.
