CRTC Vice-Chairman of Broadcasting TOM PENTEFOUNTAS told staffers at CANADA's broadcasting regulator that he is leaving the agency on NOVEMBER 20th, reports THE GLOBE AND MAIL.
PENTEFOUNTAS, an attorney and former President of the ACTION DÉMOCRATIQUE DU QUEBEC party and a former radio host, was scheduled to end his five year term on APRIL 3rd, but told his staff in an email, "The time has come for my young family and I to start the next chapter in our lives."
The surprise resignation prompted the CRTC to postpone its hearing on French-language music on commercial radio stations and leaves the agency, which can have up to 13 commissioners including the Chairman and two Vice-Chairmen, with five vacancies.
