Songwriter ASHLEY GORLEY walked away with his second consecutive Songwriter of The Year award, MCA’s rising star SAM HUNT won Songwriter/Artist of the Year honors and TRISHA YEARWOOD was presented with the Voice Of Music award, during last NIGHT’s (11/2) “53rd ANNUAL ASCAP COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS,” held at the OMNI HOTEL in downtown NASHVILLE. The coveted Publisher of the Year prize went to WARNER CHAPPELL.
While all the world eagerly awaits “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” which is of course, TOMORROW’s (11/4) “49TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS,” the three days leading up to it belong to publishers and songwriters, and it started with SUNDAY’s SESAC AWARDS (NET NEWS 11/2).
ASCAP followed suit MONDAY, as HUNT’s amazing 2015 kept getting better; not only has he penned four of the 46 most-played Country titles this year, but his own single, “Leave the Night On” yielded a Song Of The Year award for he and co-writer JOSH OSBORNE.
ASHLEY GORLEY had six songs recognized at last NIGHT’s event, with LUKE BRYAN on hand to play two of them: “I See You” and “Play It Again.” GORLEY’s Songwriter Of The Year award was his third overall win.
In receiving her Voice Of Music award, TRISHA YEARWOOD’s star-studded segment was hosted by JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, saluted with musical tributes from REBA, LADY ANTEBELLUM and stepdaughter ALLIE BROOKS and presented by former President JIMMY CARTER.
Other winners on the night included OLD DOMINION members MATTHEW RAMSEY and TREVOR ROSEN, LADY ANTEBELLUM’s CHARLES KELLEY and DAVE HAYWOOD, and DARIUS RUCKER. See a complete list of winners here.
TONIGHT (11/3) it's BMI's turn, as the organization's 63rd Annual, invitation-only Country Awards will be held at BMI's MUSIC ROW offices in NASHVILLE.
