Leyla Turkkan Relaunches PR Firm Set To Run

LEYLA TURKKAN has relaunched her public relations firm, SET TO RUN COMMUNICATIONS, which was home to, among others, the BEASTIE BOYS, PUBLIC ENEMY, DAVID BOWIE, SLAYER, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and THE CURE, as one of the first companies to represent both hip-hop and rock acts.
TURKKAN closed SET TO RUN in 1992 when she accepted a job at COLUMBIA RECORDS, then went on to hold senior posts at ATLANTIC RECORDS under DANNY GOLDBERG and CRAIG KALLMAN, EMI's THE ENCLAVE with TOM ZUTAUT, RUSH COMMUNICATIONS consulting RUSSELL SIMMONS, VP/Marketing at BET and, most recently,as founder of THE CATALYST GROUP, a PR/marketing firm specializing on nonprofit work.
The company's first client is former A TRIBE CALLED QUEST MC Q-TIP, who has a new album due in 2016. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Her initial staff includes senior members ROADRUNNER/UNIVERSAL RECORDS/SEVEN ELEVEN MUSIC vet JAMIE ROBERTS and indie stalwart PERRY SERPA, of NASTY LITTLE MAN and his own GOOD COP PR. More staffers are expected to be announced before the end of the year.
STR seeks to expand operations to include tech, business, executives "and make a permanent imprint on the psyche of those who matter to its clients and leave an indelible mark in the industry and pop cultureat large."
"Our goal is to tirelessly execute the smartest and most analytical campaigns using the ltest tecnologies to ensure a resonance that is long-lasting," added TURKKAN, incorporating "traditional public relations, brand marketing, media/social saturation and tastemaker influences, executed with SEO/SMO analytics.
"Simply put, we don't do 'campaigns'... we do careers."
