A multi-pronged terrorist attack in PARIS last FRIDAY night left at least 129 dead and 352 injured, 118 of those fatalities coming from an attack at an EAGLES OF DEATH METAL concert at the BATACLAN ARTS CENTER. Although the band itself was able to escape, crew member NICK ALEXANDER, 36, was not so fortunate.
ALEXANDER, a British citizen, was a veteran merch manager who had worked for rock bands like SUM 41, FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS, PANIC! AT THE DISCO, and UNDEROATH. HELEN WILSON, who was shot in both legs, told the THE TELEGRAPH (U.K.), “NICK was shot in front of me … NICK was in front of me when we were lying on the ground and somebody moved and they just turned ‘round and started shooting us. His back was to me and I couldn’t see what happened and I tried to keep him talking and then I tried to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and [the gunmen] were just sort of in the shadows and they would shoot if anyone said anything. Then he couldn’t breathe anymore and I held him in my arms and told him I loved him.“
A gofundme account has been set up to support his family.
The five members of EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were onstage when the shooting started, managed to escape through the backstage door. MARY LOU DORIO, the mother of band drummer JULIAN DORIO, told THE WASHINGTON POST that DORIO called his wife EMILY from a PARIS police station, saying that the band members were safe. A separate TWITTER account reported that the band was onstage when the incident started.
According to ROLLING STONE, A friend of opening band WHITE MILES posted on that group's FACEBOOK page that the group was safe as well.
