EMMIS News-Talk WIBC/INDIANAPOLIS recently held an event for local “Hometown Heroes” in Indianapolis, a private dinner and concert hosted by WIBC’s TONY KATZ, JASON HAMMER and Colts player MATT OVERTON. Those in the crowd were all either military members, police officers or community leaders nominated by WIBC listeners.
After the dinner, TONY KATZ and MATT OVERTON of the COLTS (his father is an officer) spoke to the crowd; Matt and WIBC then presented a check for over $10,000 to the IMPD (Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Dept) and then a check for over $3,000 to the Semper Fi Fund for wounded veterans.
The HUNTER SMITH BAND performed after the presentation. SMITH is a former COLTS punter and his band will be touring with BLAKE SHELTON next week.
All in all over $13,000 was raised to honor “Hometown Heroes” in INDIANAPOLIS from 93.1 WIBC, including the funding of a new K9 officer for IMPD.
