The advisory board of PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY News-Talk-Jazz KPLU/TACOMA has voted to oppose the station's sale to the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON for $7 million, reports the SEATTLE TIMES.
The vote, before a packed house a the WESTIN HOTEL in SEATTLE, has no formal effect, since the board has only limited authority to advise, but council President STEPHEN TAN told the crowd that the panel will send a letter with its concerns to the school.
The buyer plans to use the KPLU signal for Jazz and other music programming, allowing its KUOW to carry all News and Talk programming.
