The RADIO MERCURY AWARDS has named THE RICHARDS GROUP Brand Creative Group Head CHRISTOPHER SMITH as the 2016 Chief Judge for the 25th Annual RADIO MERCURY AWARDS Competition. Since joining DALLAS ad agency THE RICHARDS GROUP in 1999, SMITH has written for clients including MOTEL 6, THE HOME DEPOT, ZALES, AMSTEL LIGHT, RED LOBSTER, H-E-B, QUIKTRIP, CENTRAL MARKET and dozens more.
“I listen to a lot of great radio from all over the world. And what continues to amaze me is how, despite radio being the oldest broadcast medium we have, brands and agencies keep finding ways to keep it fresh and surprising. It's inspiring and humbling at the same time,” noted SMITH. “While social and digital are getting a lot of attention, radio is quietly experiencing a kind of creative Golden Age. It's really fun to be a part of. MOTEL 6, a brand I’ve now worked on for 15 years, won the very first RADIO MERCURY Grand Prize. So it’s even more gratifying to be the head judge on the 25th anniversary of that achievement.”
“25 years and over $3 million awarded is a big achievement; we felt that selecting CHRIS as our chief judge really brings this initiative full circle with a nod to our past but also a vision for the future,” stated RAB Pres./CEO ERICA FARBER.
Award categories for the 2016 RADIO MERCURY AWARDS will be announced in DECEMBER along with Call for Entry guidelines and deadlines. For more information log onto www.radiomercuryawards.com.
