ADAGE.COM reports that HOWARD STERN's ad rates at SIRIUS are, not surprisingly, a fraction of what they were at terrestrial radio. The story claims spots at SIRIUS are going for $5,000 to $6,000, with live reads topping out at $10,000. When STERN's show was broadcast on terrestrial radio, he commanded $30,000 for a live read.
For more on the story, which details the fact that SIRIUS doesn't offer advertisers data on who is listening to its individual channels or shows, click here.
On his show TUESDAY, STERN responded by calling the article part of the "smear campaign" against him and insinuating that the article was part of an NAB public relations program or an orchestrated campaign to attack him.
