SETON HALL UNIVERSITY Rock WSOU (89.5 FM)/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ, celebrates the 30th anniversary of its current modern active rock format in 2016 by hosting a concert series showcasing various artists in metal, punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, and hard rock.
The 30 YEARS OF METAL anniversary concert series will be kicked off by BROOKLYN's CANDRIA at MAXWELL'S TAVERN in HOBOKEN, NJ, featuring OLD WOUNDS and MOON TOOTH. Tickets for the February 20th show go on sale tomorrow (DECEMBER 4th) at noon (ET), with the exclusive WSOU Pre-sale going on today (DECEMBER 3rd) until 10p (ET). Tickets are available here. Additional shows in the concert series will be announced in the New Year.
Commented MD ROHIT RAVI: “One of the most valuable parts about WSOU is that the students get to be involved in the planning of special events like the 30 YEARS OF METAL concert series,. Producing this celebratory event from start to finish will be rewarding for the station and metal fans alike.”
CANDIRIA also performed on WSOU’s inaugural boat show in 1997 – the “S S SOU.” WSOU embraced the band early in its career and to have them kick of the series helps bring the band’s history almost full circle.
Added GM MARK MABEN: “WSOU has been on the air since 1948 and what generations of SETON HALL students have accomplished is quite remarkable. For any station, yet alone a student-run station, to maintain a consistent successful format for 30 years is a significant achievement, one which current students and alumni can be most proud."
WSOU is also finishing up the GRAMERCY METAL TAKEOVER at the GRAMERCY THEATRE in NEW YORK CITY with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY tomorrow (DECEMBER 4th) and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER DECEMBER 16th.
