TODAY's House Communications Subcommittee hearing on broadcast ownership regulation didn't get very far, as the panel was shortened to about 20 minutes and just a few questions before the panel members had to leave for a full schedule of seven floor votes in the full Congress.
In the abbreviated hearing, the questions included the restoration of minority tax certificates to encourage minority ownership, which those testifying, including the MMTC's KIN JEENAN and the NAB's GERRY WALDRON, agreed would be a positive step; TV joint sales agreements, recently restricted, and a proposal to require that JSAs be disclosed; and political issue advertising sponsorship identification.
