iHEARTMEDIA Rock WHEB/PORTSMOUTH, NH, and Rock WHEB (ROCK 101)/MANCHESTER, NH, announced that the 25th annual LEND A HELPING CAN RADIOTHON raised more than $129,000 to help feed thousands in the local community.
The two-day radio auction, held on NOVEMBER 19th-20th, aired for 13.5 hours each day from 5:30a–7p, hosted by GREG & THE MORNING BUZZ.
Celebrities who checked in during the two day event were "Dancing With The Stars" host TOM BERGERON, comedian LARRY THE CABLE GUY and rockers LITLE STEVEN VAN ZANDT, DEE SNIDER and GODSMACK's SULLY ERMA, with proceeds to benefit 11 NEW HAMPSHIRE nonprofit agencies that feed the state's needy and homeless through the year.
“I started LEND A HELPING CAN 25 years ago with a goal of filling a box truck with food for local families in need. To see it grow year after year and make a positive impact alongside our listeners is just astounding," said GREG KRETSCHMAR, who spearheaded the event. “Every night in NH there are children going to bed hungry, and LEND A HELPING CAN has helped to feed hundreds of thousands over the years. 100% of the money that we raised will go directly to the 11 agencies that feed the needy.”
Added iHEARTMEDIA NEW HAMPSHIRE Market President JOE GRAHAM: “MOTHER TERESA once said, ‘If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.’ 25 years ago that was where GREG & THE MORNING BUZZ started with LEND A HELPING CAN. Today, because of their efforts, we are feeding thousands.”
Last year, the event raised over $100,000, and over the last 25 years it has donated over $1 million to feed thousands of NEW HAMPSHIRE residents. The agencies that benefit include THE SALVATION ARMY OF MANCHESTER AND PORTSMOUTH, MY FRIENDS PLACE, NEW HORIZONS OF NH, THE NH FOOD BANK, COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS OF STRAFFORD AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, COMMUNITY PARTNERS, FAMILIES IN TRANSITION, DAVID'S HOUSE AT C.H.A.D. and CROSSROADS HOUSE.
