COMMUNITY RADIO FOR NORTHERN COLORADO, has announced that it has reached an agreement to purchase KJAC/DENVER, CO, broadcasting at 105.5 FM, from FRONT RANGE SPORTS NETWORK.
The purchase will allow Triple A KUNC/GREELEY, CO to double its service to COLORADO listeners by providing expanded news and information programming on 91.5 FM, and launching its Triple A music format ful- time on the new frequency.
KUNC Pres./CEO NEIL BEST said “Since KUNC became an independent, community-licensed station in 2001, we’ve continually looked for ways to improve our service to the community. We’ve felt that having two full-time stations is the best way for us to serve all listeners at a higher level than currently possible with our dual-format, and now we have the opportunity to fulfill that goal.”
KUNC will broadcast its current lineup on both frequencies, after repairs and upgrades to the 105.5 transmitter site, beginning in JANUARY 2016. The new music format will launch on FEBRUARY 29th, 2016.
KUNC serves listeners along the Front Range at 91.5 FM, 102.7 in BOULDER, CO and 91.7 in GOLDEN, CO, along with a network of stations and translators around the state including BRECKENRIDGE, BUENA VISTA, ESTES PARK, GRAND COUNTY, HAXTUN/HOLYOKE, JULESBURG/OVID, LEADVILLE, MORGAN COUNTY, NORTH PARK, SALIDA, STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, STERLING, VAIL/MINTURN & EAGLE VALLEY, WRAY and YUMA.
