The AP has retracted the story that songwriter PAUL VANCE passed away on SEPTEMBER 6. Apparently VANCE, who, along with writing partner LEE POCKRISS, had hits with "ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI" (for BRIAN HYLAND in 1960) and "CATCH A FALLING STAR" (for PERRY COMO in 1958), among others, is alive and well. The gentleman who passed away in FLORIDA on 11/2, PAUL F. VAN VALKENBURGH, is unrelated to the songwriter. PAUL VANCE's surname, it turns out, is not VAN WALKENBURGH.
