In honor of legendary crooner FRANK SINATRA’s 100th birthday on SATURDAY (12/12), WESTWOOD ONE NEWS has brought out some excerpts from an interview SINATRA gave to LARRY KING on the latter's show on JANUARY 17th, 1985 and will be releasing clips to affiliates. The network will also use the sound bytes TOMORROW in longform programming, including "AMERICA IN THE MORNING," "FIRST LIGHT," and "THE JIM BOHANNON SHOW." In addition, WESTWOOD ONE NEWS will offer stations a 13-minute retrospective produced piece on SINATRA’s life and career, narrated by LARRY KING.
During the interview, SINATRA described how he did not want to sing like BING CROSBY, talked about his phraseology and how his singing was different than everyone else, his longevity, his feelings about the press, his critics, and more.
