Label sources have confirmed that IRS NASHVILLE, a division of CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP and UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP, has been shuttered as of last FRIDAY (DECEMBER 11th).
President JOHN GRADY launched the branch more than two years ago in conjunction with CAROLINE, the independent distribution and label services division of CAPITOL (NET NEWS 10/23/2013). It was previously the label started by MILES COPELAND, whose roster boasted acts like the GO-GOs, R.E.M., OINGO BOINGO, THE ENGLISH BEAT, GENERAL PUBLIC, and FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS.
GRADY, VP Promotion TOM MORAN, regionals GWEN FOSTER and WILL ROBINSON and Coordinator AMBER ANDERSON are all now free agents, while label artists STRIKING MATCHES, MUDDY MAGNOLIAS, MARC SCIBILIA, and ASHLEY CLARK will be reassigned to labels within CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP. IRS NASHVILLE was also heavily involved in the A&R and marketing of the recent DON HENLEY album, "Cass County," which debuted at #1 on the Country album charts upon its release in SEPTEMBER.
