Legendary BOSTON radio personality OEDIPUS will once again offer listeners his ‘soundtrack to CHRISTMAS – but this year, for the first time, he will present his annual DECEMBER 24th show from the studios of WGBH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION noncommercial News-Talk WGBH/BOSTON. “CHRISTMAS EVE with OEDIPUS” will air on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24th, from 6p to midnight (ET).
“OEDIPUS is a BOSTON original, the kind of local, authentic voice we seek to bring our listeners every day on 89.7,” commented WGBH Radio Manager PHIL REDO. “We’re delighted to continue the local tradition by presenting his uniquely curated CHRISTMAS musical celebration for audiences to enjoy.”
OEDIPUS' three-decade career in BOSTON radio began in 1975 when he was a D.J. at MIT’s college station WTBS (today WMBR), and continued on WBCN, where he went on to become PD, and hosted the acclaimed "Nocturnal Emissions" program for 25 years. He had the first punk rock show in the country, and is featured in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME.
“I am honored to be on WGBH,” said OEDIPUS. “This is such an innovative radio station.”
