CUMULUS Country KPLX (99.5 THE WOLF) and KSCS/DALLAS OM/PD J.R. SCHUMANN has been tapped to oversee Country programming for SIRIUSXM as Senior Director, Country Programming, starting DECEMBER 28th. He succeeds JOHN MARKS, who left the satcaster in SEPTEMBER (NET NEWS 9/11).
SCHUMANN, who will be based at SIRIUSXM's NASHVILLE office, joined CUMULUS/DALLAS in 2014; previous Country radio stops include COX MEDIA GROUP Country WWKA (K92.3)/ORLANDO and SUMMITMEDIA Country WZZK/BIRMINGHAM. He will also oversee Christian and ELVIS RADIO channels for the satellite service.
“We are thrilled to have J.R. join the SIRIUSXM programming team,” said SVP/GM of Music Programming STEVE BLATTER, to whom SCHUMANN will directly report. “J.R.’s incredible passion and enthusiasm for country music, along with his competitive vision and world-class programming skills make him the ideal person to lead our Country platform.”
“Wow! There aren't words to describe how excited I am about joining the SIRIUSXM team! For SIRIUSXM’s programming leadership to trust me with these enormous brands is beyond humbling!”, said SCHUMANN.
Send congrats to SCHUMANN here.
