CBS RADIO 80's KVMX (MIX 107-5)/PORTLAND and simulcasting sister Classic Rock KZOK/SEATTLE's BOB RIVERS MORNING SHOW will take to the streets of PORTLAND this SUNDAY (10/1) to run and/or walk the 26.2 mile PORTLAND MARATHON. While the final preparations are underway, a friendly competition has broken out between two members, SPIKE and DOWNTOWN JOE, who have challenged each other to a better finish time. JOE, on a weight loss and exercise plan since JANUARY, is down 50 pounds and seems to be the fan favorite at this point as evidenced by online listener voting (www.bobrivers.com).
Listeners have also shown their support by joining "TEAM RIVERS" and donating over $34,000 to help WORLD VISION build a school for the children of WONCHI, ETHOPIA. Once built, the school will help educate 2,000 impoverished children in the region. The "BOB RIVERS MORNING SHOW" has been a longtime supporter of WORLD VISION, and earlier this year show director ARIK KORMAN accompanied the organization on a trip to AFRICA to see the poverty firsthand (NET NEWS 5/22).
