WASHINGTON ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY Contemporary Christian-Religious WGTS-S/TAKOMA PARK, MD-WASHINGTON, DC midday show host BECKY ALIGNAY recently got a rare opportunity to experience CHRISTMAS at the WHITE HOUSE with children from military families, in an event hosted by FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA and DR. JILL BIDEN as part of their "JOINING FORCES" initiative. This program provides resources and encourages the public to rally around service members, their families and veterans.

Said MICHELLE OBAMA: "We sometimes forget what the holiday season is all about. But sharing this time with our military families reminds us that this season is about so much more. It’s about giving more than we receive. It’s about serving others. It’s about toys, too. But it’s about finding ways to lift up our communities, every day in every season. And that’s what all of your all do for this country.”

ALIGNAY was similarly moved by the event. “I’d never really thought about how much these children have to move and change schools, and half the time their mom or dad isn’t there. It really made me appreciate all the sacrifices these families make. It reminded that there are a lot of families that can’t be together for the holidays because they are serving us.”
