WRGS-A/Johnston City-Kingsport, TN Owner Philip Beal Passes

PHILIP BEAL, owner and manager of Classic Country WRGS-A/JOHNSON CITY-KINGSPORT-BRISTOL, TN, passed away DEC. 29th after suffering an aneurism at the age of 71, WCYB.COM  reports. Opening and running the station since the early '70s, BEAL started the “Swap Shop” program, which is one of the longest running programs on the radio.

"I just want the community to know that WRGS is going to go on,” his widow, DEBBIE BEAL, said. “We’re going to keep it running, it's going to be a part of the community, and we’re going to be here reporting on everything. So they don't need to worry, we'll pick where he left off."
