A story in the NEW YORK TIMES (10/10) reports that one half of the SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT partnership, BERTELSMANN, has notified SONY that it does not want to renew the contract of SONY BMG Chief Exec ANDREW LACK when it ends in approximately six months. According to the initial merger deal, BERTELSMANN cannot fire LACK.
Despite recent praise for LACK's performance from SONY Chairman/CEO SIR HOWARD STRINGER, the report speculates it is unlikely that LACK would continue past a short contract extension.
