So, what's really going on in CINCINNATI? Well, as ALL ACCESS first told you (NET NEWS 9/21) CUMULUS sold the intellectual rights and calls to Rhythmic Oldies WMOJ (MOJO 94.9) to RADIO ONE for use over at WIFE (100.3). And you'll recall that CUMULUS Country WYGY (STAR 96.5) is now simulcasting on 94.9 and will eventually move to that frequency.
And what's up with 96.5? New calls WPRV have been assigned, but what will the format really be?
The mystery deepens as CUMULUS Exec. VP JOHN DICKEY told ALL ACCESS, "We've identified a format hole in the market. The calls WPRV mean nothing -- just good hard consonants when said. And they are memorable when heard. Any rumors about it being Top 40 are, at this point, pure wishful speculation on the part of the industry. We have great plans for WPRV, and all will be apparent before HALLOWEEN."
