DIANE WARREN received her eighth OSCAR nomination for Original Song, and is hoping this time's the charm for "Til It Happens To You," the song she co-wrote with LADY GAGA for the film "The Hunting Ground."
Other nominees in the Best Music -- Original Song category include THE WEEKND ("Earned It" from "50 Shades of Grey"); J. RALPH and ANTONY HEGARTY ("Manta Ray" from the documenhtary "Racing Extinction"), DAVID LANG ("Simple Song #3" from "Youth"), SAM SMITH and JIMMY NAPES ("Writing's On The Wall" from "Spectre").
The nominees for Music -- Best Original Score are THOMAS NEWMAN ("Bridge Of Spies"), CARTER BURWELL ("Carol"), GOLDEN GLOBE winner ENNIO MORRICONE ("The Hateful Eight"), JOHANN JOHANNSSON ("Sicario") and JOHN WILLIAMS ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens").
NEWMAN's nomination is his 13th without an award, BURWELL's nomination is his first, while MORRICONE's nomination is his sixth without an OSCAR, though he did get a Career Achievement honor from the ACADEMY in 2007. JOHANNSSON received his first nomination last year for "The Theory Of Everything."
WILLIAMS is second all--time in OSCAR nominations with 50, after WALT DISNEY, including winning five times, the last in 1993 for "Schindler's List."
