Seton Hall's WSOU/South Orange, NJ Celebrates 50 Years Of 'Hall Line' Basketball Show

'Hall Line' Turns 50

SETON HALL UNIVERSITY noncommercial Active Rock WSOU/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its sports talk show "HALL LINE" with a special reception at PRUDENTIAL CENTER in NEWARK on FEBRUARY 6th before the SETON HALL-GEORGETOWN men's basketball game. 

The reception, open to alumni and fans, will reunite three of the four founders of the show, LARRY LONDINO, VINCENT BICKLER, and ROBERT WINDREM (the fourth, ROBERT CONSIDINE, passed away in 2015).  Some of the show's former hosts, including NEW JERSEY DEVILS voice MATT LOUGHLIN, ESPN's BOB PICOZZI, and CBS RADIO News WINS-A/NEW YORK's FRANK GARRITY, will also be on hand.  "HALL LINE" has followed every PIRATES men's basketball game since the 1965-66 season.

“We are incredibly fortunate as students to have the opportunity to carry on the long-standing tradition of ‘HALL LINE’ here at WSOU,” said WSOU sports director CLAYTON COLLIER.  “For 50 years, ‘HALL LINE’ has given aspiring broadcasters the unique experience of fielding live calls from avid fans of SETON HALL basketball, and to be a part of the storied history of the program.  This is truly an invaluable part of our experiential education at WSOU.”

“The durability of ‘HALL LINE’ is a testament to the pre-professional training ground WSOU has been since the station’s founding in 1948,” said GM MARK MABEN.  “For any program in radio to last 50 years is a major achievement.  I am proud of the generations of WSOU students who have staffed ‘HALL LINE’ through the decades and made this golden anniversary possible.  So many media careers have been launched at WSOU.  The ongoing success of our graduates and of ‘HALL LINE’ demonstrates that radio is still going strong.”

Among other broadcasters who got their start on "HALL LINE" are ESPN's BOB LEY and JOHN BRICKLEY and BALTIMORE ORIOLES announcer JIM HUNTER.  The station is airing interviews with former hosts, players, and coaches about "HALL LINE" that are airing on game broadcasts and available online as well.
