Condolences to family and friends of THE WEATHER CHANNEL meteorologist NICK WILTGEN, who died in a car crash at an ATLANTA shopping mall garage SUNDAY (1/24). He was 39.
WILTGEN anchored weather reports for THE WEATHER CHANNEL RADIO NETWORK for 11 years starting in 2001 before moving to the network's digital staff in MAY 2012 and being promoted to Senior Digital Meteorologist in 2014. His VOLKSWAGEN Eos 3.2 was seen by a witness traveling at high speed before crashing into a wall at a garage at the COLONY SQUARE MALL, landing in a storage area at the adjacent W ATLANTA- MIDTOWN hotel and injuring a man there. The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION is reporting that while police initially told sister ABC affiliate WSB-TV/ATLANTA that WILTGEN had suffered a heart attack while driving, that report had not been confirmed by the paper.
