KOBALT MUSIC PUBLISHING has added SAM TAYLOR to its executve team as SVP/Creative, reporting directly to Global Pres./Creative SAS METCALFE and GM/Creative And Acquisitions SUE DREW. TAYLOR will be responsible for signing new and established talent and identifying publishing partners, and will also contribute to the management of the creative roster.
Commented TAYLOR: "I've kept a close eye on KOBALT's incredible commitment to their writers and have admired the way they lead the charge toward the future of music with innovative technology. When the opportunity was presented to join the KOBALT Creative Team, I was both honored and excited. I feel inspired to be a part of their creative division and look forward to contributing and building on the great achievements they've already made."
Said METCALFE: "I am delighted that SAM has joined our worldwide creative team based in our L.A. office. His publishing track record speaks for itself, and I’m sure our roster of writers, publishers, and artists will benefit from his knowledge and experience.”
Added DREW: “SAM’s ability to spot talent and his stellar relationships in the industry make him the perfect compliment to the KOBALT creative team and I am so pleased that he has chosen to join us.”
The music industry veteran started out in the A&R department at ELEKTRA RECORDS, and has gone on to posts at ATLANTIC RECORDS, WARNER/CHAPPELL MUSIC PUBLISHING and, most recently, at SONY/ATV and EMI MUSIC PUBLISHING, where he signed and worked with PHARRELL WILLIAMS, SCHOOLBOY Q, SOUNWAVE (KENDRICK LAMAR), FKi (POST MALONE, 2 CHAINZ), DAHI (BIG SEAN) and SAM DEW, among others. TAYLOR was also the catalyst for putting together KENDRICK LAMAR's GRAMMY-nominated Song of the Year, “Alright” (produced by PHARRELL and SOUNDWAVE).
