AFTRA is urging its members to attend the OCTOBER 3 FCC public hearing in LOS ANGELES on media ownership. BROADCASTING AND CABLE reports that AFTRA Pres. JOHN CONNOLLY's message to the rank-and-file says that the union's members "have experienced first-hand the devastating effects of media consolidation. It is critically important that our voice is heard at the public hearing."
Other groups involved in an effort to get their members to attend the hearing en masse include the WRITERS' GUILD, THE RAINBOW COALITION/OPERATION PUSH, and the CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS, as well as broadcasters.
