MILWAUKEE BREWERS radio play-by-play voice JOE BLOCK is moving to PITTSBURGH to join the PIRATES' radio and television crew as one of the BUCS' two play-by-play announcers alongside incumbent GREG BROWN.
BLOCK, with the BREWERS since 2012 and pre-game and post-game "DODGER TALK" host for LOS ANGELES DODGERS broadcasts on CUMULUS News-Talk KABC-A/LOS ANGELES in 2011, replaces TIM NEVERETT, who recently moved to the BOSTON RED SOX. STEVE BLASS, BOB WALK, and JOHN WEHNER will return as analysts on the broadcasts, which air on CBS RADIO Sports KDKA-F (93.7 THE FAN)/PITTSBURGH and ROOT SPORTS.
On his own website, BLOCK wrote, "This is a bittersweet time. I am elated to be joining the PIRATES' broadcast team but saddened that I'll no longer be a part of the BREWERS' organization." Noting how he and his wife loved living in WISCONSIN and working with BOB UECKER ("unquestionably the greatest privilege I've had as a broadcaster"), BLOCK pointed to his ties to PITTSBURGH, from driving with a friend from their MICHIGAN homes to PITTSBURGH to try to sneak into THREE RIVERS STADIUM to getting married in the area.
