The RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION of AMERICA (RIAA) announced TODAY (2/1) a new Album Award methodology for its GOLD & PLATINUM program, which recognizes artistic achievement in the music marketplace. Effective TODAY (2/1) RIAA will include on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent in GOLD & PLATINUM (G&P's) Album Award. The program's iconic benchmarks -- 500,000 (GOLD), 1,000,000 (PLATINUM) and 2,000,000 plus (MULTI-PLATNIUM) -- will now count both sales and streams for single and album certifications.
RIAA is including 17 titles in the newly expanded Album Award with new certifications, featuring three Country Album Awards. TODAY (2/1) RIAA awards WARNER MUSIC NASHVILLE artist BRETT ELDREDGE with GOLD for "Bring You Back," RCA NASHVILLE artist MIRANDA LAMBERT with PLATINUM for "Platinum," and MCA NASHVILLE artist SAM HUNT with 2X MULTI-PLATNUM for "Montevallo."
