Steve Goldstein: Radio's Dashboard Supremacy Challenged

The photo below is of the dashboard of a new-model FORD with APPLE CARPLAY. This year, 100 new car models will come off assembly lines with this or GOOGLE AUTO in their dashboards. With a push of these "buttons," the driver gains access to a phone, music, messages, maps, audiobooks and podcasts.

Notice what's missing ... as in an AM/FM button. Many car models won't have immediate access to AM/FM. Even in cars that still offer such access, the bottom line is clear: Radio no longer has front-and-center supremacy in a connected care dashboard.
