iHEARTMEDIA is challenging the AM Revitalization rules with an online petition opposing the cutback in protected service contours for Class A AM stations.
One example, from News-Talk WGY-A/ALBANY, says, "The FCC’s proposal to reduce WGY’s protected service area will mean that many of our nighttime listeners will not be able to enjoy the same signal quality at night and during drive-times, jeopardizing your ability to enjoy WGY programming and receive important emergency weather alerts and other information."
A nearly identical petition, with local host names changed, appears at the websites of News-Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES, WLW-A/CINCINNATI (where the boilerplate petition was posted unedited with " [EXAMPLES OF STATION PROGRAMMING, ESPECIALLY SPORTS COVERAGE, POPULAR TALK, ETC.]" still left in the text), WOR-A/NEW YORK and KTLK-A (TWIN CITIES NEWSTALK AM 1130)/MINNEAPOLIS (which haven't posted the petition text but do have a form ready to go), and other iHEARTMEDIA AM talkers.
