It may sound like a plot to an action movie, but it's real life, folks: ENTERCOM Hot AC WNTR (107.9 THE MIX)/INDIANAPOLIS is currently running on back-up power, due to a faulty high-voltage transformer -- and the back-up could blow out at any moment.
The only radio manufacturing company in the U.S. that has the part needed for the repair is located in WICHITA, KS, roughly a 10-hour drive from THE MIX broadcast studios in INDIANAPOLIS. As you read this, morning MIX co-host TOM DAVIS is driving west to WICHITA to get the needed part; he hopes to drive it back before the back-up power goes out as well.
“We filled up the gas tank and are set to depart on a cross-country voyage in the 107.9 MIX van, heading due west to KANSAS to get the part that's needed to save THE MIX,” DAVIS said. “Follow me as I chart the course.”
Fingers are crossed that DAVIS makes it back to THE MIX studios in time to keep the 50,000 watts of music and fun on the air! Listeners can keep tabs on the "TOM Saves THE MIX" cross-country adventure by logging onto THE MIX FACEBOOK page or on TWITTER at #TomsavestheMIX.
