MERCURY NASHVILLE artist CHRIS STAPLETON is taking aim at suicide prevention with the powerful video interpretation of his song, "Fire Away." STAPLETON conceptualized the video, directed by TIM MATTIA, which portrays a young married couple as they transition from happy and carefree to dealing with the wife's mental illness and repeated suicide attempts.
STAPLETON cameos in the video as a bartender, while the young husband thinks back on the downward spiral his wife had taken leading up to her self-inflicted death. STAPLETON aims to bring attention to the five signs of emotional suffering, as outlined by the CAMPAIGN TO CHANGE DIRECTION, which include change in personality, agitation, withdrawal, decline in personal care, and hopelessness. The video ends with the website for the campaign, www.ChangeDirection.org. For more information, visit the CAMPAIGN TO CHANGE DIRECTION website or STAPLETON's website.
